Art should be for man, namely for making a human
being noble. Civilization is a technical accumulation of human culture
from the past to the present, but I believe that it is necessary for us
to deeply think by ourselves, and neither to be easily pulled about by
the past nor to simply look for a desire in the future. It means that
you must neither respect the thing only because it is old nor be
fascinated with the thing just because it is something new. It also
signifies that you should neither grieve over the dying nor stick to
something attractive.
Contemporary Japanese art, however, is destroying the sublimity which
it has originally. As a result of that, it is at present thrown into
confusion, and hover about on a low level. It is also standardized in
some categories, and wherein there is no longer difference between
professional and amateur. On one hand, installations, comic art, and
photography are becoming the main current of contemporary arts, but on
the other hand it is doubtful that these are universal arts.
Our fundamental standpoint of expressing in pictures is to paint what
we feel through our 5 senses, especially vision, and we have the wish
to continue to paint and create our works on the basis of it.
Until not so long ago, the middle of the 19th century, pictures in any
country had been painted with pigments made from natural materials such
as stone or soil, and a solvent like gelatin or oil. But now
fine-grained pigments which are easy to be used and produced chemically
are substituted for those things, and the act of pigmenting rather than
painting is the current of the times.
Toward the world, we start to create our works by making good use of
the material in the classical way, that is, to be analogous and
domestic. We believe that it is the direction in which we should go.
Comparing myself with others, neither to think that I am superior nor
to think that I am inferior, and getting away from greed, not getting
arrogant, not pretending, further not being stingy, in such ways we are
ready to work hard and continue to create works.
In order to connect with the next generation on the basis of the matter
mentioned above, we planted the group exhibition which were collected
publicly, could not be seen in any established one, and aimed at the
appearance of a few real artists of talent.
Wind is sometimes gentle, but it can be furious in some cases. Wind has
such various aspects. We would like to bring a new wind into the art
world. With this mind,
we formed ARTIST GROUP, KAZE.
